01:28 pm - Realm transfers...
I just figured I would point out to any members who don't regularly check the WoW website that Sargeras is now eligible for the paid character transfer service.

Yesterday Alyriina, Haxis, and I were discussing the merits of possibly moving characters to an RPPvP server. Hard as it might be to believe, since we were leveling so slow at one point (and no, it wasn't just you Aly :op) this guild was actually first formed back before the RPPvP realms were around. Not LONG before, admittedly, and maybe we should have made the switch back then, when the few members we had were still in their teens, but hindsight is 20/20. Yes, I know it's probably a waste of money, considering that most of us are still fairly low level. But at the same time I do think that a big part of what's holding the guild back is the fact that we're a very RP-centric guild on a straight PvP server. I really think we could grow a lot more easily elsewhere.

Plus, hopefully I'd only feel like killing all the stupid punk kids every 15 minutes instead of every 2. That would seriously boost my productivity. And maybe, if I was really, really lucky, most of the rest of the people around would feel the same way, instead of me being one of the few points of light in a sea of idiocy. I know that's asking a lot, but a guy can dream, right?

Anyway, I'm by no means saying we need to do this. But I did want to throw the idea out there, and see what everyone has to think. Should we even bother at all? Should we try to roll new characters on one? What level do you think it would be before transfering over would be a waste of time? Which server should we go to if we did? What do you think would be the benefits and drawbacks of doing something like this? Am I just admiring how green the grass is on the other side of the fence? You know, stuff like that.

Another idea I brought up was setting up a "Move The Flame" fund for guildees who want to take advantage of the service, but can't afford it. I mean money, not gold. I know I'd be more than willing to contribute.

So, anyway, any thoughts?

I agree, I enjoy rp, and I honestly think it'd be simpler to move the whole guild than take the time for those of us about 30 to start over, cause lets face it.. unfortunatley this shit takes time.. and I'd love to have guild that enjoyed the same things we do without having people mooch all the time and then take off. I am REALLY sick of that. I'd love to get endgame faster, and it'd be simpler with people who thought about things in the rp world like we did..

I dunno.. maybe I'm being dumb :)

and I'll also help with the Move the Flame fund..

Okay, here's an update on what I'm planning. Obviously nothing is even remotely close to being set in stone yet, but here goes nothing.

I'm planning on keeping Vass on whichever server Aly's on, since she factors fairly prominently into some of the stories she's working on, and it would make sense to keep them together. I'll also keep Vorakarn on whichever server Vassaille's on, since the two of them play off each other fairly well.

Now, last time I talked to Liz she was leaning toward leaving Aly where she was, and working on new characters on Emerald Dream. So chances are what I'd end up doing is moving the 60 lock I have on crushridge to emerald dream. I was planning to one day move him to an RPPvP realm ever since the day they were first implemented. Wherever I go with him, though, I probably want it to be a different server than Vass, since having two high level locks on a single server seems rather silly. So chances are I'll be moving him to Emerald Dream and leaving Vass and Vork on Crushridge.

Of course, I'd also like to suggest Maelstrom as a possible alternative. I have a 20 Tauren druid there, and know at least a couple people. Also, Liz, that's the server Ian plays on, so for all we know we might be able to rope him and people he knows into joining. I probably won't worry about Maelstrom at all unless I one day break down and get a second account.

As far as the fund goes, we should probably just wait to make any specific plans for that until more people have an idea of whether or not they actually want to transfer, period. We still might decide it would be better to just not bother.

I will be re-rolling Aly on Emerald Dream. It does take time to relevel, but I'm also currently running Alysandra (Riina's twin) there, and Also will be working shortly on Fayndivae and Alyas. Four Characters, two horde and two alliance (three Flame and one actively working against the Flame) will be more than i cnahandle.

I may end up moving Alyriina to Emerald Dreamafter all. I just don't know.

I say move Aly. I did say I'd be more than willing to set up a fund, and if you need to dip into it, then by all means go ahead. I'd say it's worth it to move any character above 30. Hell, I'd even say it's worth it to move most characters over 20, but that's up to the player.

Part of the reason you wanted to leave Aly on Sargeras was to try to convince the few cool people you know there to try to switch over too, right? Well, if you're splitting your attention between two servers, they're sure to outlevel you, so you won't be able to run with them anymore, and will only be able to talk to them. Well, you can talk to them just as easily with a level 1 alt as you can with Aly.

If you're trying to keep her there to one day facilitate the Flame growing into a multi-server guild, or eventually branching out to be part of the whole multiplatform Twilight Afterglow team, I'd say we need to focus our efforts on one server before moving to another.

The only wildcard left is whether or not everyone else is planning to move their characters. If the entire guild is willing to try rerolling, but doesn't want to have to pay anything, then you might not want to bother with a move, but I know I'm more than willing to do it.

Now, I just need to work out some specifics for the fund...
